The Commission on Ministry is comprised of 14 members:  a minister and lay person from each district; a representative from the United Church of Christ; a Chair of the Commission; with the Regional Minister and Regional Moderator as ex-Officio members without vote.  Each person is appointed by the Moderator and serves for 6 years with 2 members rotating off each year and 2 new members appointed. 

The Commission on Ministry is charged with overseeing and certifying the Standing of all Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Ordained Disciples ministers, Licensed and Commissioned ministers, Ministerial Partners from the United Church of Christ and transfers of Standing from other regions, to include:

• Nurturing and guiding Licensed and Commissioned ministers through their Licensing process and in their designated ministries.
• Nurturing and guiding students seeking Seminary degrees, and officially processing recommendations for ordination.
• Investigating and processing to resolution, official allegations of clergy misconduct or breeches of the Ministerial Code of Ethics * (Report clergy misconduct or ethics violation to the Regional Minister).
• Maintaining, with constant vigilance for improvement, the standards for ministry in the Region of Florida, as presented in our Policies and Criteria for the Order of Ministry Manual. *
