Rev. Rebecca Hale completed a term as Acting Regional Minister for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Tennessee in September of 2009 and currently serves as a consultant for congregational transformation and leadership development.
From December 2006 until May 2009 Rebecca served as the Transitional Interim Regional Minister & President, Northwest Regional Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) working with the Region as they journeyed through the RISE regional transformation process. During those two and one-half years the NW Region significantly re-visioned and restructured their regional ministry.
Beginning in 2001, Rev. Hale served as the Associate Regional Minister for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Tennessee with responsibilities in a wide variety of ministry areas including; leadership development, congregational transformation, pastoral care and nurture, and camp and conference ministry. As part of her work in Tennessee, Rebecca developed, in partnership with the Center for Parish Development, the Rise.Shine!Church . . . Congregational Transformation Initiative.
Denominational commitments include serving as the current chairperson of the Week of Compassion Advisory Committee for the Christian Church, Disciples and serving on the planning team for the 2009 Transformational Leadership Summit.
Rebecca was ordained June 1992 at Trinity United Christian Church (formally First Christian Church) in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tennessee and earned her Master of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary where she received the Paul T. Gerrard Prize in Preaching and Pastoral Care. Rebecca also has a Masters in Sacred Theology from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary with a graduate thesis titled, “Women, Children and Welfare Reform – A Christian Perspective.”
Prior to her ministry in Tennessee, Rebecca held the position of Associate Regional Director for Church World Service in Pennsylvania. In that position Rebecca coordinated education, advocacy, and fund-raising efforts related to issues of hunger and justice for congregations and denominational groups and organized CROP Walks.
In July of 2001, Rebecca married Jess Hale, a Senior Legislative Attorney with the Tennessee General Assembly. She has three children – Jeremiah, Melissa, and Hayley. In every minute she can find, Rebecca loves to garden, cook, and read. |
